Having done research, I found out that the studio took over in the final stages of the editing process, so what was already considered a ’safe’ film for families was made even worse. Feel sorry for the director…

i was so pissed off when i seen this film i thought the main part was surprisingly true to the books but god the ending the cut the whole dramitic scene out fuck you hollywood for ruining what could have been a great ending i mean come that ending could have made this film so much better and im sure it would have sold better and they would be making the subtle knife 2 so to finish my rant fuck you again hollywood and fuck you newline you fucked it up royally

I agree; I thought it was quite true to the book, actually. Yes they reversed the Svalbard and Bolvangar scenes and they ended the movie on an upward note rather than with Roger’s death, but nonetheless…the svalbard/bolvangar switch really doesn’t change the original story much, and since they weren’t making the other two movies then it’s nice that they didn’t show Roger’s death. That would have been extremely depressing.

Can you please tell me where I can find the music between 5:30 and 8:40?

Well, they recently said, if they do make the sequel, it won’t be based for America(Japan), and it won’t concern what the church says. To many countries seem to only think christianity is the only religion, and that they should abide by their rules. What about the Wiccans, the Buddhists, and Voodoo practitioners? I wish they hadn’t gone by the church, and brought it down to such a low level. Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as Eragon, and that’s at least saying something.

Well, that’s what the series is basically about. I’m not chirstian based, in fact the total opposite, but, people need to realize, free thinking is real, and to never judge a book by its cover.

Have you read the books though. It is a very real, very thinkable thing. I’m not christian, so I saw the whole point of view on it. If you could, would you please read it and message me so we may discuss?

*spoil alert!*
If you read the books, the whole series is basically about killing the chirstian god, the “authority”, the , magistrate.

Extremely good work dude, that you actually managed and took yourself the time to compose this ending just for us fans and your own fun is really impressive. To sad this is as close as we fans will ever get to se the end of the golden compass (from new line cinema that is!) However at this point there is no idea to make videos or to complain about the movie since it been like 2 years and they wont make a sequel, which is prob as good.
Peace out and good work!

I’m so depressed about how they ruined the ending and the order of events after the first third “oxford”. This video is great, they should have ended the film this way, I am still puzzled as to why they didn’t. It’s a shame that the second and third films are unlikely to be made… though I really hope they do…

I loved the movie (it is in fact my current favorite). If the makers knew that there would not be the sequels they made the right choice in reorganizing the flow of events and changing the ending to a more suitable ‘hollywood’ ending. I would have loved nothing more than to see the whole saga played out onscreen but one benefit of the hollywood version is that it made me buy the book trilogy because I wanted to know what happened, which I’ve read through 3 times. Thanks for putting this up.

@lovetolovefairytales the trailer is still availble in quite a few places. Try yahoo movies, they have them in mov format which newer version of windows media player can handle.

@Lovinggirlhood I’m a christian too and when I spoke to my family about the film my mum cornered me about it, as she had been told about how it was evil. So I made her watch it so we could discuss it. She couldn’t fault it. People like to jump to conclusions without knowing the full facts.

@bakablues the audio has been gathered from all over the place. Obviously the clips at the beginning had audio already, I just added the background music and removed commentary from the clips.
The audio over the storyboard style scenes are from a leaked preproduction video that new line made before the film to encourage people to get involved with the project.
I added music at certain points, except the romeo & juliet music that was already in the preproduction video. Hope that helps!

@EnergyUK Thanks for putting this up. I agree, it was definitely false advertising to put clips from the finale in the trailer. I was extremely upset and disappointed to find the original ending had been cut, and worse it wasn’t included on the DVD. Where did you get the audio from, for this ending?

I am a catholic, and in my school they send around a news letter warning parents this is about killing god and not to see it. The coward didnt even bother writing his own name at the bottom. I read the books when I was 10 and loved them and never thought about killing “God” untill i saw that letter. And, I think its an absolite load of (forgive me lord) shit

February 8th, 2010 at 9:05 pm
it won’t come out, the church was totally against it, so New Line won’t risk, nevertheless, Dakota is 15 and Lyra’s supposed to be 12!!!

man, i wish it ended like this. thanks so much for this. i loved the way this ended. if only the director just added this in, it would be a lot better.
